Colorado Mustang Group joins Patron Sponsors

NMA’s Colorado branch supports the Summit

We’re thrilled to welcome the Colorado branch of the National Mustang Association to our family of Summit sponsors. The NMA/CO is a busy, passionate organization directly involved in sustaining the welfare of the Spring Creek Basin herd (which BHPS attendees can visit on October 10) and other wild horses in southwestern Colorado.

“We want to support the Summit because we believe education, networking, and the exchanging of ideas are all important for improving our horses’ lives and our relationships

with them,” said NMA/CO board member Lynda Larsen. ” Familiarizing more people with the plight of our wild horses, and what we are doing to work on the issue, can hopefully benefit the wild ones as well.”

NMA/CO knows that helping wild horses needs to be a multi-faceted effort including direct service to improve mustang lives and advocacy. Last year, they worked with the Mancos Elementary school kids to write poems based on photographs taken by talented TJ Holmes. They rode mustangs in the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering parade.

On the service side of things, the group completed fence work in the Spring Creek Basin area and met with park officials regarding wild horses in Mesa Verde National Park. Donated funds support work projects, water improvements, birth control, training and educational materials at Spring Creek Basin. The group works with the Bureau of Land Management’s Tres Rios Field Office, the governmental branch assigned to that herd management area.

Look forward to visiting with NMA/CO members at the Summit and thank them for their support!
