Exciting News!

Pineland Farms

We’re hitting the road!

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the third annual Best Horse Practices Summit will be held October 19-20, 2019, at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine.

After two fantastic years in Durango, Colorado, we’re taking this exciting step to expand our reach with a new venue.

“We’re thrilled to be coming to Maine to offer a fresh curriculum on a range of compelling topics,” said executive director Maddy Butcher.

Presenters and topics will be announced in forthcoming months.

Pineland Farms is a premier facility and a rural gem located just minutes from Portland and Freeport. The conference will enjoy Pineland facilities at The Commons conference space (with views of Mt. Washington) and catering from the Black Tie Company.

Horsemanship and riding demonstrations will take place at Pineland’s well-appointed Equestrian Center.

Why take the Summit on the road?

The short answer:

We want our message and our movement to remain distinct and accessible. In our approach, we aspire to reach horsemen of all disciplines and in all regions.

Summit attendees enjoy a break

Director Maddy Butcher adds: “In order to best serve our audience, we’d like to travel and get closer. Our mission is to strengthen links between equine research and horsemanship circles as well as to bring together educators and horse owners for presentations on best practices. Logistically and educationally, our 2019 Summit will be ideal for our diverse, growing, and passionate audience.”

Attendees in New England will find the Summit within a few hours driving distance. Others can easily fly into Portland or Boston.

Of course, Summit followers anywhere can watch past presentations at our Video Lab and On Demand pages. But as attendees have declared, the conference is an incredible opportunity to experience first hand. Maine is beautiful in October and nearby Portland has been voted “Best Town in the East” by Outside Magazine, “Restaurant City of the Year” by Bon Appetit, and one of the “Coolest Small Cities” by GQ.

See you in October!

I feel this is going to be so much fun to bring to the Northeastern part of the United States. It will be a different experience for attendees and organizers alike. I’m looking forward to being a part of this year’s Summit in Maine!
